Tatum brings more than a decade of legislative, campaign, and advocacy experience to Samson Advisors. This experience—combined with her deep Capitol connections–has made Tatum one of Sacramento’s most trusted and results-oriented lobbyists. Tatum has earned a track record for securing key wins for clients by utilizing this experience while navigating California’s extraordinarily challenging political environment and convoluted procedural rules. Her recent legislative achievements include securing legislation to create financial certainty for offshore wind developments and advancing landmark legislation modernizing California’s motor vehicle franchise laws.
Prior to joining the firm, Tatum was a lobbyist at a multinational law firm, where she spearheaded advocacy efforts for clients on some of their most high-profile issues. Before that she worked in the California Legislature, including as a Legislative Director, for nearly a decade, where she worked on an array of complex and high stakes policy initiatives and issue areas including natural resources, energy, transportation, housing, and higher education.
Since leaving the Capitol, Tatum has quickly become among the most trusted legislative advocates in Sacramento by Legislators, staffers, and advocates alike.
Tatum received her BA from California State University, Sacramento with a major in Government. She lives in Sacramento with her husband, John, and their son.
